Wine maker notes
Sonoma-Cutrer has long been associated with premium California Chardonnay; so much so, that its best kept secret is its award winning Pinot Noirs. Crafted from 100% Russian River Valley fruit you will find this Pinot to have incredible depth, with a concentration of red and dark fruits.

Producer
John Loeb has been growing grapes in the Russian Riverbend and Alexander Valley of Sonoma County, California since 1973. He has spared no effort to produce the highest quality wines possible. “I recall being introduced many years ago to the greatest dry white wines in the world, the wonderful Montrachets of the Burgundy District of France,” said Ambassador Loeb, “and I resolved that one day my vineyards would challenge the Montrachet vineyards.” For the past 20 years Sonoma-Loeb wines have garnered prestigious awards and consistent high scores from the Wine Spectator and Robert Parker. Sonoma-Loeb’s “fragrant, lavishly rich, buttery, honeyed, full-bodied Chardonnay” mirrors the fine Burgundy wines Ambassador Loeb set out to make. John L. Loeb Jr. was the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark from 1981 to 1983. He then served as a United States Delegate to the United Nations. He is a member of the Loeb and Lehman families, which have played an influential role in American business, political and cultural life since the early 1700’s. Among the firms they founded were Loeb, Rhoades & Co. and Lehman Brothers. Taking care of the environment always been important to John Loeb as he was the first chairman of the New York State Council of Environmental Advisors (resolving conflicts among environmentalists, business operators and farmers) and an advisor to Governor Nelson Rockefeller on Environmental and Economic Affairs from 1967-1970. Ambassador Loeb earned his B.A. cum laude in 1952 from Harvard College where he was an editor of the Harvard Lampoon. In 1954, he received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He is currently chairman of Loeb, Rhoades Trust Company investment counselors. He serves as chairman of the Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States, the George Washington Institute for Religious Freedom and is a trustee of the American Scandinavian Foundation. Among his awards and recognitions are the Justice Louis D. Brandeis Award and a C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) bestowed by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994 for his work with the Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States. Ambassador Loeb is also a Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog, received from Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. He holds an honorary Doctorate of Law from Georgetown Law School. He is a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and the Sons of the American Revolution. Ambassador Loeb lives in New York and enjoys sharing his wine and visiting his vineyards in Sonoma County.
